Miramar women's water polo player Natalie McCann was honored as one of the PCAC Female Athletes of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 13. In addition, Jets women's soccer player Stephanie Carlson was an Honorable Mention selection.

McCann, a sophomore 2-meter player from San Antonio's Alamo Heights High School who was a Texas second-team all-state selection two years ago, has scored 12 goals for the Jets in their first three games of the season.

This past week, McCann scored four goals in a 13-11 loss to Los Angeles Valley and came back with four goals in a 14-4 victory over Santa Ana, both in the L.A. Valley College Mini-Tournament.

"Natalie is a natural team leader and a huge impact player that demands the attention of other teams. Despite defenders trying to double-team her, she comes up strong and still scores" Jets coach Amy Jennings said.

Carlson, the Jets sophomore goalkeeper from Mira Mesa High School and a returning All-PCAC selection, blanked Norco 5-0 to earn her second shutout of the season. She had three saves in the game.
