San Diego Miramar College is proud to announce the formation of a men's volleyball program. After years of planning, the program will become the fifth team in the Jets Athletics program. The first season of competition for Jets Men's Volleyball will be Spring 2015.

The team will be led by John Landicho, hired to create and direct the program in the Spring of 2014. Also an assistant professor in the Department of Exercise Science, Health & Nutrition at Miramar, Landicho brings substantial championship volleyball experience to the Jets. Before coming to Miramar, Landicho was the head coach for the girls volleyball team at Francis Parker HS in San Diego, where his teams won two consecutive CIF California state championships in 2012 and 2013. He was part of five State Championship teams and 17 CIF-San Diego Section championship winners overall at Parker. For his efforts in the 2012 season, Landicho earned Coach of the Year honors from the CIF-San Diego Section, as well as from the High School Sports Association of San Diego. Landicho also brings community college men's volleyball experience to the Jets, as he was the head men's volleyball coach as San Diego Mesa College for five years (2009-2013), where his last team was Mesa's first playoff-contending team in eight years.

Miramar MVB will compete in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, with fellow conference members Palomar, Grossmont, San Diego Mesa, and San Diego City Colleges. In addition, Irvine Valley, Orange Coast and Golden West Colleges, members of the Orange Empire Conference, compete as PCAC members in the sport of men's volleyball. There are 15 community college men's volleyball programs in the state of California, all located in the southern half of the state.
