Men's Basketball plays in Palomar Thanksgiving Tournament
San Diego, CA – Over the Thanksgiving break San Diego Miramar College Men’s Basketball team travelled to Palomar College and participated in their Thanksgiving 3-Day Tournament.
On Friday, the Jets matched up to play Compton College at 4pm. They team hit the court and the outcome was successful! Jets dominated Compton College Tartars 78-48! Michael Tate Jr led the team with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists! Cameron Barry and Tavian Cheathon-Dayton also contributed 13 points each!
Jets had the first game on Saturday! Tip-off between Miramar and Orange Coast College took place at 2pm in “The Dome.” The team came out and played strong in the first half! Cameron Barry contributed 23 points by half time and was 5-7 from the 3-point line! Jets won the game 96-57 with Barry adding another 12 points for a total of 35 for game 2! Tate Jr added 17 to the game!
Day three of the tournament started at 1pm for the Jets. The team was 2-0 going into the game against LA Harbor. Jet led going into half time with 39-33. The second half was more intense as LA Harbor came back to tie regulation 70-70. Jets went into overtime and Barry was the first to score. After a few missed shots and opportunities, the score was 76-76 at the end of the first overtime. Going into the second overtime, Miller made a layup and was fouled. He shot his free throw, bumping the Jets into a three point lead. As the clock ticked down, the Jets were unsuccessful in holding their lead. They had missed shots and turnovers, which led to their defeat. Miramar lost to LA Harbor 85-91. Damien Miller led with 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Tavian Cheathon-Dayton contributed 15 points, 13 rebounds and 1 assist.
