Feb 23, 2015

Miramar student-athletes Jelani Carr and Caleb Deibel were honored by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference today, for their performances this past week.

Carr was named PCAC Male Athlete of the Week. A sophomore guard from Mira Mesa High School, Carr set a school record with nine 3-pointers as Miramar's men's basketball team soared to a 98-78 win over San Diego Mesa. He went 9-for-12 on 3-pointers and was 3-for-3 from the foul line. Carr shares this week's award with Palomar College basketball player Deven Riley.

Deibel was awarded Athlete of the Week honorable mention. A freshman outside hitter from Mt. Spokane High School in Spokane, WA, and a transfer from Spokane Falls Community College, Deibel led the way in Miramar men's volleyball's 25-20, 26-24, 20-25, 25-7 road victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech, the first win for the Jets in the program's history. He racked up 20 kills on .333 hitting efficiency and added four service aces and a block assist. Deibel is a former tennis player whose high school did not field a volleyball team.
